Embracing Change: The Balance Between Flow and Stability
January 12, 2025
Change is all around us. It is constant, inevitable, and unstoppable. When we grip tightly to things we wish would remain static, we find ourselves fragile and breakable. Suffering arises when we resist change, fighting the natural flow of life.
But when we accept that the world is ever-changing—like water flowing through a winding river—we learn to move with it. We can bend, curve, glide, and flow with life’s twists and turns, rather than exhaust ourselves in resistance.
This invites a question: Where do we find balance between surrendering to life’s flow in full feminine embrace, and remaining solid, still, and steadfast like the oak?
The oak tree stands strong, yet it allows for change. It bends with the breeze and lets its leaves grow, fall, and regenerate. It doesn’t resist the flow of life around it; instead, it anchors deeply into the Earth while growing toward the sky.
We, too, can find strength in that balance. We can notice the flow of change, allow it to happen, and remain present and unreactive. We can choose not to scatter our minds or attention in a futile attempt to hold back the river or block the wind.
If we resist too much, we risk toppling over, torn from our roots. But when we ground ourselves, feeling into the soil beneath us and connecting to the roots of the Earth, we find a steady center. From that place, we can reach outward for growth—adapting, flowing, and embracing the constant dance of change without losing ourselves in the process.
